Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Waste Collection Pimlico in respect of our financial year ending 31 March. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. Waste Collection Pimlico operates waste collection and related environmental services in the United Kingdom and recognises its responsibility to uphold and promote human rights in all business relationships.

Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy

Waste Collection Pimlico has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place in our own operations or in any of our supply chains.

All employees, agency workers, contractors and suppliers are expected to share this commitment. Any breach of this policy by an employee may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. Any breach by a supplier may result in termination of contracts and removal from our approved supplier list.

Our Operations and Supply Chains

Our core activities include domestic and commercial waste collection, recycling services and associated logistics. To deliver these services, we rely on a network of suppliers and subcontractors providing vehicles, equipment, personal protective equipment, maintenance, facilities management and support services such as cleaning and security.

We acknowledge that certain categories of suppliers, such as those involved in temporary labour provision, transport, uniforms and equipment manufacturing, may present a higher inherent risk of labour exploitation. We are working to identify, assess and manage these risks more closely.

Supplier Standards and Audits

Waste Collection Pimlico is developing and implementing supplier standards that explicitly prohibit modern slavery and human trafficking. These standards form part of our procurement and contract documentation, setting clear expectations for labour practices, working conditions, wages, working hours and freedom of movement.

We conduct due diligence on key suppliers, which may include pre-qualification questionnaires, risk-based assessments and verification of their own policies on modern slavery. For higher-risk suppliers, we may undertake audits or request evidence of third-party audits and certifications that demonstrate compliance with labour and human rights requirements.

Where non-compliance is identified, we will work with suppliers to implement corrective action plans within a clear timeframe. Continued or serious non-compliance may lead to suspension or termination of the business relationship.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

We encourage anyone working for or with Waste Collection Pimlico to raise concerns about potential or actual modern slavery in our operations or supply chains. Concerns can be reported to line managers, senior management or our designated compliance contact, who is responsible for investigating and escalating issues appropriately.

We also maintain a whistleblowing channel that allows employees, agency workers and contractors to report concerns confidentially and without fear of retaliation. All reports will be treated seriously, investigated promptly and, where appropriate, reported to relevant authorities. We will protect any individual who raises genuine concerns from detrimental treatment or victimisation.

Training and Awareness

We are working to improve awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in procurement, contract management, recruitment and site supervision. Training will cover recognising warning signs of exploitation, our zero-tolerance policy, and how to use our reporting channels.

Managers are expected to promote an open culture where workers feel comfortable raising concerns, and to ensure that third parties working on our sites are aware of our standards and expectations.

Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement

Waste Collection Pimlico is committed to continuously improving our approach to tackling modern slavery. We will monitor the effectiveness of our policies, procedures and controls through ongoing risk assessments, supplier feedback, internal reviews and the outcomes of any investigations.

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed annually by senior management to ensure it remains current, effective and aligned with legal requirements and good practice. Updates will reflect any changes in our business structure, supply chains, risk profile or regulatory environment, as well as any lessons learned from audits, incidents or stakeholder engagement.

This statement has been approved by the management of Waste Collection Pimlico, who are responsible for its implementation and for ensuring that appropriate resources are allocated to uphold our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery.
